SAFETY ON WORK AND ON THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT

SECURITY IS A SUBJECT THAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR US. HERE'S A LITTLE IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS OF THE METHOD TO APPLY IN ORDER TO PUT AND KEEP WORK AND THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT SAFE.

To ensure safety at work and the working environment, laws, regulations, safety requirements, DIN standards and VDI guidelines must be respected.

The method is divided into three points:

  • All the machines must be such as to prevent the occurrence of any danger or risk to people’s and environmental health (“Direct Safety”);
  • If not possible, protective measures must be taken to avoid danger (“Indirect safety”);

These measures include:

  • safety distances, such as to prevent the danger zone to be reached;
  • coatings and protections to prevent the approach to the danger zone. Example: Special closures or sealing of machine tools to avoid unauthorized operations;
  • protective barriers, such as a fence which makes the danger zone out of reach by also protecting it from flying pieces;
  • Failing to provide this kind of protection, easily understandable warning signals or instructions must be put instead as a reference to perform safety maneuvers;

 In conclusion:

  • Dangerous areas, that following the method above must be made safe, are those areas where actions like crushing, shearing, cutting, engraving, forming, harvesting, inserting and lifting, especially in moving components, but also in the still ones such as corners, such as sharp edges and rough surfaces, can injure someone;
  • Work and maintenance spaces must be designed to ensure safe of access and stay; transport: heavy machinery and equipment must be equipped with adequate stop devices. Stability: for example, machines and equipment in the open air must be stable and well-secured so that they cannot be accidentally moved by any impact or wind force;
  • Relying on specialists is inevitable to avoid risks arising from the presence of electricity, vibration and noise, chemical reactions and radiation.
